In a letter addressed to President Donald Trump, with a copy sent to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) leadership, American citizen Samuel Saraiva (an Amazonian by birth) proposed a call for American citizens to “join forces by assisting immigration and deportation officers in identifying criminal foreigners who attempt to evade justice”.
Saraiva believes this measure would “speed up the identification and detention of foreigners reported for crimes or suspicious activities.”
According to Saraiva, information could be given by telephone and via the online form already made available by ICE.
In his letter, Saraiva expressed concern about how the administrations of the sanctuary counties and other “adversaries of the rule of law” have been opposing the actions of federal agents.
“Instead of being handed over to federal custody, criminals would be allowed to reintegrate into society and commit further crimes,” he wrote. Saraiva understands that “without a coordinated effort of State and Society, it will be much more difficult and costly to identify and deport foreign criminals.”
Explaining his suggestion to Trump, Saraiva said his appeal aligns with the legitimate desires of law-abiding citizens.
“A united people, supporting ICE deportation agents at the president’s behest, would lead to immediate positive outcomes, fostering patriotism and strengthening the actions of the federal government.”
“In any country, trespassing on someone else’s property — entering or remaining there without the expressed or implied consent of the owners — is considered a crime, the offender being subject to detention and fines. In the case of illegal immigration, the perpetrator acts deliberately, accepting the risks and the status of offender,” he emphasized.
Worst of all is the use of children as human shields when “people risk their lives crossing dangerous rivers and deserts while dishonestly invoking ‘rights,’ fostering human trafficking and contributing to the billion-dollar drug trade.”
“From down here, at street level, I have been observing your government’s meritorious effort to defend the rule of law, by trying to cleanse the country of individuals who have brazenly violated current federal laws by invading American territory. In total disregard for the laws that govern our nation and sustain democracy, many have also committed other crimes and violations of state and municipal laws, spreading insecurity, while increasing public expenditures with corrections, education, healthcare, and even environmental pollution, due to a lack of civic awareness aligned with our society’s values,” he warned.
“When State and Society unite in the purpose of protecting the nation, no opposing forces can prevail — including those who allege frivolous humanitarian reasons disguised as ‘human rights,’ at a huge cost to taxpayers, delaying the fulfilment of the legitimate demands of men and women who risk themselves dedicating their lives to defend the national ideals of freedom and justice, and the well-being of the American people,” he added.
For over three decades, Saraiva has been submitting to the authorities suggestions and projects addressing immigration issues, intercontinental road transport (a Transfrontier Highway linking the road systems of countries within the Amazon Basin), food assistance for impoverished populations, responses to social and environmental needs, and, more recently, the use of polygraphs to detect lies told by criminals and fugitives seeking fraudulent visas and asylum.
Some proposals:
An active participant in Trump’s three presidential campaigns and a deep expert on American realities — particularly concerning the Latin community — Saraiva supplied the campaign committee with proposals aimed at correcting abusive and harmful distortions while advocating for legal immigration as a safe option for those wishing to live in the United States. Among the proposals published on the website *Gente de Opinião* and on his blog, *www.samuelsaraiva.com*, the following stand out:
